A staff member at a top British restaurant has been arrested after a chef alleges he was assaulted while at work. He claimed he was beaten with a rolling pin, had his trousers set on fire with a blow torch, had red-hot pans pressed on his arms and says he was stung on the back of his neck with nettles while making a nettle risotto. He alleges he saw another chef being held by his legs from high up and with his head being dunked in a vat of lukewarm broccoli and Stilton soup which was later served to guests at the Star Inn at Harome, North Yorkshire. Police have arrested a man at the centre of the allegations but he was later released on bail pending further inquiries. Normally we’d say “Only in America” but seems this time the Pom’s have it !

Michael Laws and his radio station will front up with cash and an apology to the parents of a Waikato boy killed in a trail bike accident.
Blake Fowlie died after being hit by an oncoming car as he turned into his Paeroa driveway in February.
On his radio programme, Mr Laws ripped into the parents of the 11-year-old for letting him ride the bike, mistakenly believing he was on a quad bike. During the tirade, the Whanganui mayor likened Heather and Stuart Fowlie to the parents of murdered twins Chris and Cru Kahui.
The couple’s lawyer has told them they will will receive $20,000 in damages and $15,000 legal costs from Mr Laws and the station’s parent company, MediaWorks. Mrs Fowlie says for them, the apology is the important thing.
